The Arusha Cultural Centre is located along Arusha-Dodoma Road, a major highway heading to great wilderness of Africa. It is place where the past and present of Tanzanian 120-plus tribes can be viewed in single compound. Apart from displaying and storing Tanzania’s cultural heritage, the centre also is the largest curio shop in East-Africa sells carvings, gemstones such as precious Tanzanite, artifacts, clothing and books. Among its customers is US President-Bill Clinton. In year 2000, The American president bought art and craft items worth about USD 1,400. In July, 2007 again former US- visited the centre for more shopping. Other world statesmen who have been hosted and shopped at Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre include King Harold and Queen Sonja of Norway and their daughter Martha Louise, South Africa Thabo Mbeki and Zanele Mbeki, as well as other international celebrities such as singers and movie-stars.
